Panda Class is St George's mainstream SEND Hub. It is a specialist provision for children with an EHCP that identifies a primary need of Communication and Interaction and/or Cognition and Learning. 

Teaching and learning involve lots of playing and exploring, use of visuals (Widgits) to support understanding and develop communication alongside provision to support sensory needs. The classroom routine is specially designed to support children with a variety of  learning styles. Please see the poster below for more information on some of the strategies we use in Panda class.

Autumn 1 2026

Exciting news - our room renovations and outside area is complete. The children have a freshly decorated classroom where careful consideration has been given to reduce overstimulation. The outdoor area includes opportunities to move, play and meeting different sensory needs. Please see photos below to see how our new spaces look. 

Curriculum Autumn 1

In English, we are learning the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and writing instructions by learning how to make porridge. we will use talk for writing strategies to learn stories, develop our phonics skills to write labels, captions and our own versions of the texts. We will link these texts to our 'All About Me' topic by talking about our likes and dislikes when choosing toppings for our porridge. We will continue to develop writing skills based on individual needs. We will be using a range of interventions such as Pegs To Paper, Dough Disco and Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle to develop fine motor skills, hand strength and control to enable children to be able to write comfortably. Those children who are ready will complete daily handwriting practise. 

In Maths, we will continue to use the White Rose Maths scheme as appropriate to each individual child's needs and abilities. The scheme is adapted to meet different learning styles and to maximise individual engagement in learning. This term all children will be focussing on counting, number and/or place value. 

Our topic this term is All About Me. Please see below for examples of the learning we are planning to do. For our RE we are following the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus with adaptations to focus on key stories and vocabulary linked to religion and worship. All children are given the opportunity to attend Collective Worship. 

Our P.E Day is Monday, please send your child already in their P.E Kit. Where appropriate, some children will also join their year group for their P.E sessions.
