Governors

 Governors

The governing body is responsible for both the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards. The governing body carries out its role by setting the vision for the school and then ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision. It does this by building a thorough knowledge of the school and its community, by both supporting and constructively challenging the school, and by ensuring accountability and compliance. The governing body of our school is made up of Parent Governors, Staff Governors, Foundation Governors, Co-opted Governors and a Local Authority Governor. The governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities and can only act together, not individually. They work together with the Headteacher in all matters.

So who are we:

Mrs K. Barry - Headteacher.

Mrs H. Ruddlesdin - Observer except in the absence of the Headteacher

Mr B. Velan - Chair of Governors - Co-opted Governor

Mr M. Childs - Vice Chair - Co-opted Governor

Revd. Canon S. Johnson -  Foundation Governor

Vacancy - Foundation Governor

Cllr M. Snee - Local Authority Governor

Mrs K. Roper - Parent Governor

Mrs S. Masri - Parent Governor

Mrs K Burrows - Staff Governor

Miss B. Cassell - Co-opted Governor

Mrs J. Barlow - Clerk to the Governors

So what do we do:

Firstly we make decisions about the future.  We discuss all developments at St George’s. We are involved in staff appointments, monitoring and ensuring that the staff deliver a high standard of education to all pupils.  We make sure that the school is a safe place for your children.

We will challenge the school about decisions made, including asking constructive questions about what is happening or going to happen. We attend school events and are in school on a regular basis. We are all people who have an interest in education and are willing to give time to St George’s School, bringing particular skills and experiences to the role.

If you wish to contact us with questions, complaints or encouragement, please do so via the school.  Governor minutes are available on written request to the school. Copying charges will apply. Any confidential items will be omitted.

We are heavily and whole heartedly involved in this our school and feel privileged to play a role in all that happens.
