Headteacher's Welcome Letter

Welcome to St. George’s C of E Primary School.

Our school is at the heart of the community and places great emphasis on its relationships with pupils, parents and other members of the local area.

Everything we do is underpinned by our Christian vision, inspired by Archbishop Desmond Tutu: "Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." We strive to do our little bits of good day in, day out, enabling all children to develop into compassionate, resilient, and talented achievers with a strong internal moral code.

Our aim at St. George’s is to provide all pupils with a stimulating, nurturing, and inclusive educational environment in which everyone feels safe, respected and supported to grow and develop to their full potential.

 We deliver a broad, balanced, and creative curriculum that is enhanced by our three key school drivers: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind and The Natural World. Our curriculum is designed to give all children the knowledge, skills, and cultural capital they need to succeed. We place great value on active, purposeful learning, supported by resourced classrooms, modern technology, and extensive outdoor learning spaces. Through our two Woodland School areas and Key Stage 2 Base Camp—featuring an outdoor classroom, garden, allotment, assault course, and nature areas—children develop practical skills, resilience, and a deep connection to the environment.

We carefully plan for and meet the needs of all our children through adaptive teaching and quality-tirst teaching strategies, ensuring that specific areas of need are never a barrier to curriculum access, personal development, or progress.

We listen to the views of our children and take immense pride in their achievements.
