Headteacher's Welcome Letter

Hello,

Welcome to our St. George’s website. I hope you enjoy having a good look at all that we do here at St. George’s.

We have 200+ amazing children at our school. We have wonderful teachers and teaching assistants who work tirelessly to ensure that learning is fun, purposeful and creative. We have three school drivers; aspects of school life that we believe are especially important. These are "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind", "The Natural World" and "Reach for the Stars".

We are very lucky that our classrooms are beautifully resourced and the children have lots of exciting equipment to help with their learning, including plenty of technology. Each class has its own web page, so if you wish to know more about the areas of the curriculum that your child is studying, please have a look there.

Our school grounds are beautiful, too (do come and have a look.) We have a very big playing field with an athletics track on the playground, an outdoor classroom, a garden, a huge allotment, four fairy tale huts and a trim trail climbing track. We also have two Woodland School learning spaces. Here, the children are able to learn new skills in a natural environment. They build dens, play in the mud kitchen, make bird houses and go on nature walks. They do sometimes get a bit messy but they certainly enjoy their learning! For key Stage 2 children we have Base Camp; in there you will find a challenging assault course, an outdoor gym, table tennis tables, a stage, a learning pavillion, a story-telling arc and a nature area.

We are very proud that Ofsted has graded the school as “Good” during its last two inspections. This shows how well our children and staff are doing. We are a Church of England school and are very proud of this. In our church inspection we were graded as "Outstanding" which shows how dedicated we are to promoting, celebrating and nurturing our children’s unique strengths. Please read our inspection reports included on our website. We also have policies on the website for your information. If you want paper copies of any documents, please just ask any of the office ladies.

Our school motto is “Reach for the Stars”….come and see us and you will see how well we do this day in, day out.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

My warmest wishes.

Mrs. Katie Barry
