Dear Panda Class,
We hope that you are all OK and are adapting to your new routine. We are missing you lots already.
Each week, we will be posting learning challenges onto this page for you to complete at home. You will be able to complete the different activities in your homework book. If you need any more paper or pencils, you can ring school and we can sort out a pack for you to collect. Along with the weekly learning challenges, you will be able to log onto Spelling Shed, Times Table Rockstars, Rising Stars and Espresso.
As well as the learning challenges that we set, remember that there are so many learning opportunities around your home. I know that some of you have already been baking and helping to cook tea. You could learn how to take care of the plants in your garden, and it's certainly a great time to learn how to do your shoelaces!
Each Thursday, we will phone you for a catch up. It was lovely to hear that many of you had been enjoying the sunshine last week along with working hard on your home learning challenges. It was great to hear that so many of you had been keeping active and joining in with the Joe Wicks PE sessions each morning, too.
We are really looking forward to being back together again. Keep yourselves safe.
From Miss Hardcastle and Mrs Towsend
We hope you all had a great half term and are ready for another busy term!
Our learning for this half term is linked to our exciting residential trip to Sherwood Forest. We will be learning all about the different characters from the Robin Hood stories, describing Sherwood Forest and learning about how life was different during the Middle Ages. We shall use all of our learning to write our own Robin Hood stories. Once we return from Sherwood Forest, we shall also be creating comic strips about our trip.
Within our Maths lessons, we shall continue our learning on fractions before moving onto decimals. Each week, the children also have a Maths lesson with Mrs Davidson where they focus on consolidating and extending their knowledge of the four operations.
During our Science lessons, we shall be learning about living things and their habitats. We shall be grouping, identifying and naming a variety of living things within the school environment and beyond.
Our RE topic this term is Christianity. We will be looking at how Christian belief is expressed collectively and how worship and celebration builds a sense of community.
PE this term will be with the sports coach each Monday and each Tuesday with Mrs Davidson. The children will need their PE kit on these days.
Y4 children are invited to join Tag Rugby each Monday. Please let us know if you would like your child to join.
Your child will bring their homework book home each Friday and it should be returned the following Wednesday. In addition to this, please encourage your child to read at home and help them to practise their times tables. We have been very impressed with the creative Robin Hood homework that we have seen so far. Please continue to work hard on this and show us what you have created.
If you have any questions, please pop in to see us.
