Happy New Year Penguins!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are ready to start back at school. This term our topic is ‘Muddy Puddles’ which we will be doing by concentrating on farms and farming.
This term we are reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books based around our topic and focusing on non-fiction writing such as instructions. This term we will be focusing on our handwriting lead ins and joins alongside spelling our common exception words correctly.
As before reading books will be changed weekly or as needed. Please remember to bring in your book bag every day.
In Maths we are working on multiplication, statistics and shape so we will be busy making graphs and searching our environment for different shapes and items. Number bonds twenty are still a focus and we will be continuing to learn our 2,5,10 and 3 times tables through fun games and using Times Table Rockstars. Maths homework is given out each Tuesday.
In science we are finding out about the weather and will be making our own weather station in order to record what happens. We will also be finding out about living things and their habitats. This will include looking at the habitat of our own school areas and the allotment.
We have a fantastic pantomime visit planned and this term we will start to forge links with a farmer through FaceTime.
PE is on Monday and Friday so please don’t forget your PE kits!
If you have any questions, please ask myself or Mrs Barlow.
