‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ topic continues this half term where we will look closely at the circus and all the different skills involved in performing.
We are reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books based around our topic and focusing on answering questions about the text and using our phonics skills to read and segment We will be working incredibly hard on our reading and it would be great if you could support your child at home by reading at least three times a week. Reading books will be changed as needed.
In handwriting we are going to focus on letter formation and beginning to use our joins when our handwriting is neat enough. We will develop our sentence structure skills remembering to use the correct punctuation whilst writing our recounts, instructions and stories.
In Maths we are working on place value, addition and subtraction with larger numbers and solving simple problems we are given. Number bonds to ten and twenty are a focus and we will be continuing to learn our times tables through fun games and using Times Table Rockstars. Maths homework is given out each Tuesday.
In science we are finding out about the seasons and which plants grown in each month, this will be linked to our allotment planting.
We have a super circus skills workshop planned so the children can learn new skills and experience perseverance.
PE is on Friday so please don’t forget your PE kits!
