Welcome back Penguins!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.
This term we are concentrating on reading and adapting fairy tales and traditional stories. Our focus will be reading fluently and recognising the common words within the text, answering questions about what we have read, predicting what may happen next and discussing a wide range of vocabulary we will read within the books. In our writing we will focus on spellings, punctuation, neat handwriting and grammar.
Please try and read at least three times a week as it really does help with confidence. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and a Thursday so remember to bring in book folders!
In Maths we will continue to practise place value whilst solving problems using our reasoning. We will practise the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and continue our work with time, shapes and measurements. Maths homework is given out each Tuesday.
We will be learning all about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, two famous women who played important parts in the history of nursing and hospitals.
In science we are learning all about ourselves and our bodies, how they work and what they need in order to stay healthy. We will continue to learn about healthy living with a focus on exercise, hygiene and eating the right amounts of different types of food.
PE is on Tuesday and Friday so please don’t forget your PE kits!
If you have any questions, please ask myself or Ms Barlow.
