Welcome back to school, Koala Class! I hope you had a great break and are all ready for the Summer term.
Our topic this term is 'Marvellous Me.' We will be looking at what the children want to be when they're older and they will be looking at a range of exciting jobs. We will also be looking at marvellous people from the past such as Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.
In literacy we are going to be writing and reading about different animals and writing non-chronological reports. We will be making our own hybrid animals too.We will be writing exciting stories about an interesting event that may be happening at St George's. Poetry is another focus this term and we will be writing our forest poems, which means we will be exploring our KS1 forest area for inspiration.
In maths we will be carrying on with lots of addition and subtraction and developing our multiplication skills. The children will be learning all about 3D shapes and their properties and finding shapes in our environment. We will carry on to have a big push on our 2, 5 and 10 times tables in our 'Daily Dashboard' lessons too.
The children will have PE each Tuesday with me and every Thursday with the Sports Coach. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on these day.
We also have our amazing trip to Uncle Henry's Farm this term which will be a fantastic learning opportunity for all our children.
If you have any concerns or questions about anything else, please don't hesitate to ask us at the end of the day.
Mr Naughton and Mrs McBroom
