We currently have a vacancy for a parent governor and are in the process of recruiting, if this is something you are interested in please let the school office know who will give you the relevant information.

We are all people who have an interest in education and are willing to give time to St George’s School, bringing particular skills and experiences to the role.

If you wish to contact us with questions, complaints or encouragement, please do so via the school.

Governor minutes are available on written request to the school. Copying charges will apply. Any confidential items will be omitted.

Secondly, an outline of what we do:

The governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities and can only act together, they cannot act individually.

We act together with the Headteacher in all matters.

Firstly we make decisions about the future.  We have recently discussed and agreed some exciting innovations at St George’s!

We are involved in staff appointments and then monitoring, to ensure that the staff deliver a high standard of education to all pupils.  We make sure that the school is a safe place for your children.

We challenge the school about decisions made, asking constructive questions about what is happening and going to happen.

We attend school events and are in school on a regular basis.

We are involved in this our school and feel privileged to play a role in all that happens.

Mike Childs (Chair of Governors)
